Just some quick links defenitely worth reading:
- Measuring SEO: why rankings are worthless – Eduard Blacquière talks about why not to worry about search rankings anymore but to focus more on other metrics. Interesting point of view (but still you need rankings to reach / measure…).
- SEO Mastermind Aaron Wall Brings Bad News – Jon Rognerud does a big interview with SEOBOOK author Aron Wall covering a lot of interesting stuff like LSA, traffic generation, etc.
- 6 Unique Content Ideas to Boost Your Website’s Value & Link-Worthiness – some content ideas from Rand over at seomoz.org, also do not miss the comments over there.

SEO Workshop Cologne – Slides
05.09.2008, 10:37 Uhr · Abgelegt in: Blog, SEO
As promised some days ago I’d finally found some minutes to put up the slides from the SEO workshop Cologne. You can find them over at my new slideshare account. Actually I don’t know what happened but I had to create a completely new account – the old one simply does not work anymore and seems to be non-existing… whatever. Here are the slides:
SEO Workshop in Cologne
02.09.2008, 17:21 Uhr · Abgelegt in: Blog, Events, SEO
As I’m just back from vacation (we really had a great time at Country Inn & Suites at the beautiful Timmendorfer Strand) and reading through some mails I noticed that I simply missed posting some stuff about the nice SEO workshop we had last Friday, the 15th of September in the beautiful MediaPark of Cologne.
SMX Advanced 2008 Seattle: Give It Up
04.07.2008, 08:08 Uhr · Abgelegt in: Blog, Events, SEO
Just a quick note on SMX Seattle 2008: It’s been a month now since SMX took place. Why’s that important? Well… we’re now officially “allowed” to blog about the incredible “Give it up” session which took place at the end of day two. The cast of the panel was amazing, there were Rand Fishkin (SEOmoz), Todd Friesen (Visible Technologies), Michael Gray (Atlas Web Service), Rob Kerry (Ayima Search Marketing), Marty Weintraub (AimClear) and Stephan Spencer (Netconcepts) talking about some very, very interesting things ![]()
I’m not going to summarize this, just be sure to check out this post, it cover’s pretty much everything in a very detailed way. Don’t miss it!
Black Hat SEO all over again
17.06.2008, 19:15 Uhr · Abgelegt in: Blog, SEO
The on-going debate regarding too many “black hat” content at SMX Seattle still hasn’t ended. As I wrote a few days ago the initial post was made by Bruce Clays Lisa Barone.
In addition to that “SEO Chick” Lisa D. wrote a great post which a completely agree with, definitely wort reading. Also be sure to check the comments over there, where Danny Sullivan clarified some of his statements (he also apologized for his reaction on “blaming” some of the speakers for their conference content) – pretty interesting what’s going on there.
Also be sure not to miss reactions on Sphinn and the “No, Advanced SEO Does Not Mean Spamming” post on SearchEngineLand.
Google Trends Update
11.06.2008, 07:44 Uhr · Abgelegt in: Blog, SEO
Just a short note on Google Trends, which is quite popular since its launch sometime in 2006. Google finally added a numeric scale which – of course – does not show exact search volume figures; instead “Trends scales the first entered term so that its average search traffic in the chosen time period is 1.00. Then, each additional term is scaled relative to the first.”
JoJo did some more research on that (and has some nice pictures available), also be sure to check out the Google blog on this.
SEO Recap – June 10, 2008
10.06.2008, 08:49 Uhr · Abgelegt in: Blog, SEO
Just some quick links defenitely worth reading:
- Lisa Barone over at Bruce Clay asserts that SMX Advanced goes to the dark site – it’s not just black and white folks… However it’s a very interesting discussion going on there, be sure to check it out! A nice reply on that can be found here, even though I do not completely agree with all points Eric made it’s pretty simple in case of “corporate SEO”: Black is simply not an option but you absolutely should now what the enemy does so you have to know about black hat SEO!
- At SMX Advanced there was a session called “International SEO” which I could not attend because of a meeting, there is an interesing recap over at searchmarketingstandard.com.
- And again some coverage from SMX, again a session I did not attend to (because of another parallel session): Diagnosing Web Site Architecture Issues – check it out.
That’s it for now ![]()
